Paddling with Thorncrest Outfitters
Thorncrest Outfitters offers complete outfitting service to assist access to some of the finest outdoor opportunities in South-western Ontario. Through the activities section of our web site we are creating the most detailed Paddle Route descriptions to assist in the planning of your trip. The water ways available on the web are the Saugeen River, Rankin River, Lake Huron shoreline, Georgian Bay sea kayak route as well as the Bruce Trail for the land lovers.
The Saugeen River offers up to a four-day relaxing paddle trip for both canoes and kayaks, and is perfectly suited for beginner and intermediate paddlers. We also offer services to the historic Rankin River just north of Sauble Beach. The Rankin River is a beautiful river with an active wildlife population; it is also a narrow watershed and some experience is required.
Bruce County also offers the open waters of Lake Huron where you can view world famous sunsets as you paddle off the sandy shores. The Georgian Bay Sea Kayak route covers some of the most spectacular scenery Grey Bruce has to offer; however, only intermediate to advanced sea kayakers should tackle this section.
We are working to add more information to assist you. Please keep checking back. Thank You!
